Decorative Curtain Rods For A Modern Look

When you hang curtains or drapes, there is one thing that is a necessity; decorative curtain rods. Okay, so they don’t have to be decorative but they sure do add to the beauty of the décor. They come in a wide variety of styles such as wrought iron, magnetic, swing arm, wooden, tension, double and even themed versions. They are very modern in style mainly because the old style of curtain rods was simple with little to no decorations at all. Today they are made of a number of materials as well as in different styles. The most popular type of decorative curtain rods is the tension bars.

The Twist and Fit Decorative Curtain Rod in Satin Nickel provides the functionality of a tension rod. It is spring loaded so when you squeeze it together it “scrunches” the length and put it in place. Once you release it the pressure of the spring holds the rod into place. It can be found at walmart.com in black, cocoa or satin nickel and holds up to five lbs of curtains. It expands from 28” to 48” for only $10.88. A very contemporary style rod that will go with any décor and fit almost any single window.

If you are looking for something a little less traditional you can try the Dakota Swing Arm rods from restorationhardware.com. They provide you with the functionality of a curtain rod and shutter at the same time. It lets you close your curtains completely, draw them to the sides or swing one or both arms away from the window entirely for light and breeze control. Each extending rod measures ¾” in diameter and comes in large and small rods for $50 - $55 per swing arm.

It comes in white/gold or black/gold and in width size from 28” to 48” for $24.99 or 48” to 86” for $29/99. These are great ideas for a living room or bedroom or any wide opening that will allow your curtain rod to extend past the edge of the window.  If you have double curtains to hang like with Victorian curtains the Kenney 28” to 48” Arts and Crafts Double Decorative Curtain rod from meijer.com is just the thing for you. It has double Euro brackets with the second rod included. Everything is included that you need for insulation for $25.49.

Most of them are available at local retailers everywhere and the make the perfect replacement for your old bent up curtain rods. Wrought iron is quickly becoming popular too like the Wrought Iron Hand Made Curtain Drapery Rod.
